Even the race caller at the very beginning said the horse didn't break at all. What are you supposed to do when 3-4 horses go right in front of becaus eyour hors ebroke slow? Are you supposed to run right through tthem . Gary Stevens even said Rafael had NO choice.

What do you mean he is a strange fellow?

So a mile and a quarter isn't enough distance to recover from breaking a couple of steps slow? Wow.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.

I remember Smarty Jones falling to his knees and breaking dead last and winning the Preakness at what 1 3/16th. Mmm isn't that shorter than 1 1/4 ? Plus Smarty Jones wasn't on his home track.I could care less what Gary Stevens says . Dude got beat on the square.

He was basically spent around the far turn. If one watched the NBC feed you could tell he was not going to run well after that point.

Only reason he won at 1 1/4 was the HP Gold Cup was one of the weakest races in its history. It was him and Richard's Kid..... and a bunch of ALW horses that probably would struggle to win an overnight stake.
