I didn't see Optimizer's name on Joel's list. What a horrible race he ran in the BC Turf!!! Him and Dullahan are have
been over hyped all year long.

Wise Dan should win. He was the most consistent, he annihilated his competition in 4 straight turf races (three Grade 1's), he broke a record on Breeders Cup day, he won at a variety of tracks, he won on the dirt and the turf. A head loss to Ron the Greek in the Stephen Foster is his only flaw on the year. His dirt score he won by 10 1/2 lengths.

The only other horse I would seriously consider is Royal Delta. Based on her win on Friday, she is by far the best older mare in the country. Her record isn't as flawless as some of the others though.

Little Mike, although he won two of the biggest turf races of the year, 3 grade 1's in total, wasn't as consistent as Wise Dan, and other than yesterday when he came off the pace, was a 1-dimensional front runner. He couldn't string more than 1 win together. And, he had one less win on the year than Wise Dan.

I'll Have Another, appears to have been the best of a bad and injury-plagued 3-year-old crop. And, how can you award when he only raced until May (because of a minor injury) and the rest of these horses put in a full year of racing.

Easy choice: Wise Dan

Superb season. Had he run in a straight path in the Stephen Foster he would have won by 3+ lengths and been undefeated.

My vote would have been for Royal Delta had she beaten the boys. If she is "that" good she should have faced the best competition.

Kotashaan was the last.

The last 3 have been super mares. Now, a super miler should get it.
