Kentucky is no where near the Mid West. Mid West racing is Arlington, Hawthorne, Hoosier Park, Oaklawn, Remington, etc. Kentucky and New York should be lumped together as Eastern racing and Gulfstream, Tampa, and Calder should be lumped in with the Fairgrounds and the other Louisiana tracks as Southern racing venues.

Agree 100% Kentucky is not West at all or even midwest

New York was the steppingstone to Breeders’ Cup victory for an elite group of thoroughbreds including Classic winner Fort Larned, Juvenile hero Shanghai Bobby, Mile winner Wise Dan and Royal Delta, who scored a repeat victory in the Ladies Classic. ... Pulled down for plagiarism/lack of attribution. The lengthy tribute to New York racing from the NYRA site was written by Jenny Kellner Sr. Media Specialist at New York Racing As sociation.

NITTZ = J LOPEZ.
Every year that East Coast connections do well in the Breeders' Cup, he comes in here with his chest puffed out.
In the years the West Coast dominates, he doesn't say a word.
Why did you change your handle, JLo?

If you want to make the case that Kentucky racing should be lumped together with New York racing because they have comparable jockey colonies, horses, purses, and status, go ahead. That might work. But geographically speaking it doesn't work: Louisville to New York, New York: 653 miles Louisville to Chicago: 271 miles Kentucky racing is Midwest racing and that's OK with me. Joe Williams said it best in Goin' To Chicago Blues: "Keep your New York joys, I'm going to Illinois."

The Kentucky hardboots would never consider themselves in the Midwest or part of Midwest racing.

He may have trained for the BC at Calder but was in NY all summer. I saw him many mornings in Saratoga.

My Miss' favorite jockey is Corey Nakatani. This year he has ridden all over the continent.
