If I were a commissioner for the Sport of Kings, even though the Breeders' Cup is on the west coast at Santa Anita, I would seriously consider ordering a one-week postponement of the event to next Friday and Saturday (November 9-10) and if necessary moving it across town to Hollywood Park, citing an extreme set of circumstances caused by Sandy in the east where many people are currently without power and/or are dealing with serious damage from the storm that is still creating problems in the midwest.

I realize that would create a lot of anger among horseplayers and racing fans looking forward to the Breeders' Cup, but it may be inappropriate to a lot of people still dealing with serious infrastructure problems at the moment that are in many case expected to continue into early next week to see an event like the Breeders' Cup taking place in LA while many people east of the Mississippi are dealing with far more serious issues that have nothing to do with any loss of handle (something BC Ltd. is likely to have a serious drop in for this BC because of so many people being affected by Sandy) having the BC as scheduled would cause.

NO ONE could have predicted we would have had the worst storm in over 100 years hit the northeast less than a week before the Breeders' Cup and cause the kind of damage this storm has caused, including flooding EVERY SINGLE East River subway crossing and two major tunnels to and from Manhattan in New York and all the damage in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and so forth. This is simply my view on this.
I hate it when I don't forward chain letter and I die the next day!

If anyone is having a bad day, remember that today in 1976 Ronald Wayne sold his 10% stake in Apple for $800. Now its worth $58,065,210,000
