"Win Dinner With Mike Smith" contest on TVG

Postby Moonwalker » Tue Oct 06, 2009 2:30 pm

I'm getting a giggle at the latest promotion from TVG. It's win a trip to the track and have dinner with Mike Smith. He's on the commercial standing there grinning and twirling his whip (will he bring it to dinner? That gives one pause...) It's like "Hey, I lost my girlfriend, so I'm trying to meet chicks with TVG!" Just kidding, but this thing is unintentionally funny.

I would LOVE to go to dinner with him if he would bring Zenyatta with him. :D
Somehow, I think "dinner with a jockey" would be a skimpy thing and I'd feel guilty eating anything.

Since jungle boy cut her loose, ( but that's another topic...........)If they ever do a " Win a Dinner with Chantal " I may even sign up again with TVG just so I could enter.

Would it be served in those gigantic glasses they use on the "Jockeys" show?
My friend said, "Boy those jockeys drink a LOT of wine."

What are they thinking at TVG? How is this in the best interest of racing or for the promotion of racing or the bottom line for TVG?

Mike Smith rode the greatest racer in history a few years back. I would love to have dinner with him and chat about that wonderful race.

How do I enter?

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

One of my friends asked if the glasses were big, or if they just looked that way because the jockeys are small. [lol]

At any rate, whoever wins this "date" should probably buy this first:

http://www.amazon.com/Wine-Snobs-Dictio ... 0767926927

Then you can swirl, sniff and slurp while you wax poetic about the "terrior", "supercaressing mouthfeel", "chewiness", "ultrafine tannins", "breathtaking finish", and "explosion of fruit on the middle palate", and with every sip you can comment on how you are picking up hints of cèpe (mushrooms), cassis, green olives, tobacco, and leather.

And God forbid that you should slip and order a meritage and pronounce it mer-i-TAHJ!
I bet on a horse at ten-to-one. It didn't come in until half-past five.
My horse was so late getting home, he tiptoed into the stable.
