Pedroza Fairplex 2012

He looks like he trying his best to lose. Always in bad spots and looks like he is barely trying. He used to be able to come out of this meet with some momentum to carry him into the fall, dont see that happening this year.

What happens with jockeys at Fairplex rarely has any impact on Santa Anita's meet either positive or negative.

Well Goof I think Del Mar served your guy well and I would expect he would come out of Fairplex a legitmate Top 5 guy in the fall. Don't know if Martin is hurt or what, he was cold at Del Mar and it has not gotten any better at Fairplex. I don't think Fairplex wins are going to make a 2nd tier guy carry it to SA or HP, but a guy like Maldanado has skills, I think coming off Del Mar were he quietly shined, this run at Fairplex helped him get his name out.

You might have me mistaken with someone else. I don't have a "guy". Sorry don't understand what that means. Success at Del Mar most assuredly helps at Fairplex. Don't think it goes the other way though. I once asked Pedroza's agent Richie Silverstein about this. His answer was very interesting. He said that while still dominant at Fairplex he could have won even more but wanted to maintain some alliegences for when Oak Tree would open. Maldonado has really worked out a wonderful place for himself in California. Talent and hard work always helps. Plus a well liked agent which he has. Being a top 5 rider in So. Cal. means STACKS of cash!!!

The same could be said about Juan Hernandez as Edwin Maldanado. He has made tremendous inroads into barns
like Sadler's and Abrams.'

Not a huge fan of Edwin Maldonado and his style but he's been putting up good numbers as of late at Fairplex and is giving Martin Pedroza a run for his money right now. Though I do give Edwin credit for giving me a few longshots he's brought that I've picked but I've seen him put in a couple of bad rides at Del Mar this summer that really didn't impress me at all since I was starting to pay close attention to him since he's been putting up good numbers as of late especially since the Hollywood Park Spring/Summer meet. But his wins have been in alot of cheap races though. The bigger races go to Rafael Bejarano, Gomez and Talamo. Ocassionally Martin Garcia another one who am not really a fan of.

Edwin will either be 4th or 5th best rider in the top so.cal meets but his main competition for that spot is Martin Garcia since they both ride alot of cheap horses. Except maybe Martin rides a tad more better horses than Edwin but of course Martin would be in a higher position if he was still riding Baffert's firat call horses but right now Martin isn't really except for My Best Brother for Julio Canani. .

Guys like him and Juan Hernandez were putting up good numbers and they were expected to do well. Martin this year just had heavy competition.

Between the recent Golden Gate Fields southbound defectors, Juan Hernandez has impressed me a lot more than
Aaron Gryder and Kevin Krigger.

Sorry Goof, for some reason thought you had Maldanado.

I'd take Juan Hernandez over Maldonado
