I'm sorry if you missed the race, but if it will make you feel any better, I lost Sea The Stars in the field because I forgot what color his silks were. HRTV is covering everything.

I didn't miss it, because thanks to Churchill Downs, one of the few companies in the industry with a clue, I watched it on TwinSpires with my free streaming.

Surely you must have a DVR where you could have stopped the race and gone back to the start to clarify what STS silks looked like? Quite possibly the best tool for watching any sporting event.

Ugh, that sounds unappealing. Would miss what was transpiring in the moment. I have a DVR that will do that & I never use that feature. But that's just my opinion and the only sport I watch is horseracing. A race is over in almost the b l i n k of an eye so I don't want to miss anything that's taking place live.

One person's opinion only, of course.

Yeah, I guess that 30 second delay can be a real mood changer. You're kidding, right? Personally, it is far more interesting to watch a race knowing where all the horses are positioned so that you can see everything develop. If you didn't know which horse STS was you would not have appreciated the race until they showed the replays, because you wouldn't have known where he was until the last furlong. Live or delayed makes little difference to me. A great race by a great horse can be appreciated forever and whenever.

No, I wasn't kidding because in my case It would take me so long to fiddle around with the remote to find out how to do that (since I never have a need to do so for any other reason) that I would have lost the continuity & thrill of the moment. And I wouldn't want to mess up the recording in progress. After a big race is over they show a replay right away and that is sufficient. Besides, it's often quite difficult to make out silk colors anyway in a Euro race, with how they all bunch up together. I rely on the race caller. And yes, I would & do appreciate the race with the way I watch. Great racehorses and great races I watch over & over because I am always recording them.To each his own........

Well whatever, I never think about fiddling with my remote, but maybe in this one case I should have. Everything happened so fast, that I should have been paying attention instead of trying to post something on our forum, which I never sent anyway. I have a bad habit of posting and watching the races at the same time because it makes me feel like I'm sharing the races with other people. I live alone and there isn't anyone here to watch with, so my company happens to be the folks on these forums. But when I'm posting, my back is to the TV, and I tend to write a lot, and all the while the horses are loading and the next thing I know I have to abruptly stop at the same time that they break. It's important that I watch just before they load to get a look at the numbers on their saddle cloths, their silks, and and where they're positioned in the gate. If I haven't done that, and haven't already written these positions down on a piece of paper, I'm lost.

I waited for months to see Sea The Stars in the Arc, then when it happened, I didn't have a clue. I'm glad he won, but I was really mad at myself. Watching the replay is fun, but I didn't have the same anticipation or excitement because I already knew what happened.

I better send this off or I'll miss the '97 BC Juvenile which is about to go off. I don't want to miss Favorite Trick.
