imo, quality road is the best 3 year old colt in the country. i think he will prove it against summer bird in the jockey club gold cup. and i think he is the best american hope to win the bc classic.

It should be a good race now that Quality Road has the Travers under his belt. But Summer Bird obviously likes the Belmont Park track. And his pedigree is just loaded with middle distance stamina, which he certainly has inherited. The question is whether or not he'll like the ProRide. I can't recall if Summer Bird has ever raced on synthetics. Don't think he has.

He has never run on it and in fact he trained so poorly over it prior to his debut that Sadler basically gave him back to the owner.

That's certainly not good. Summer Bird is the leading contender, at the moment, for three-year-old male champion, and I wonder if the connections feel they "have" to go to the BC, otherwise they lose the award. Even if he doesn't win, if a European does, or an older American male, and Summer Bird hits the board, he's probably got the championship locked up.

Of course there is still the JCGC before that.
