What is the deal with these Bald Men allowing these old fossils back in the game. JHC going to buy some Rogaine ASAP. Mr. Super Bowl

Re: Lava Man Comeback? My first thought was ... are you kidding me? After Lava Man has won more than $5,000,000 for his connections there can only be one reason to bring this once (and not recently) fine runner back to racing -- greed. Let's just hope he doesn't injure himself either training or racing as then greed would turn into something far more negative. He surely deserves a better ending.
UPDATE: I just read the DRF article and it noted that all future Lava Man earnings will go to the the racehorse retirement foundation CARMA. It surely made me stop and think that maybe outright greed might not be the underlying factor in his return -- but maybe the owners just miss the spotlight? Still think the old gelding should stay retired. UPDATE 2: Just re-read the DRF article thanks to Scraping The Paint (see below) and it looks like it is only trainer Doug O'Neill's earnings. So I will go back to my original thoughts -- all about greed. Last edited by RelaunchRMH on Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:32 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Lava Man Comeback?
I thought it was only Doug O'Neill who was donating his 10% trainer's share to CARMA. http://www.drf.com/news/article/107486.html
Have Lava Man's owners offered to donate their percentage of the purses also? I bet on a horse at ten-to-one. It didn't come in until half-past five.

Re: Lava Man Comeback?ScrapingThePaint -
You are correct (will teach me to quick-read something) as it looks like it is only trainer O'Neill's purse earnings. Seems greed might well be what's rearing it's ugly head when it comes to Lava Man's owners. Re: Lava Man Comeback?Could it be that since O'Neill is donating any future earings his way of distancing himself from any public perception that he is going to profit from this experiment ?

Re: Lava Man Comeback?Maybe he's like John Henry - wants to race and not hang out at the mall.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.
Re: Lava Man Comeback?Seems to me from what I have read this is more of a medical experiment with the stem cell stuff. Maybe the horse isn't happy away from the track. Geldings can get that way.
Re: Lava Man Comeback? How could be possibly be returning?
Re: Lava Man Comeback?when he was claimed for $50k, don't ya think they would have been absolutely ecstatic if they thought he could be running now for a $10k tag?
