Wait a second. Dgstan also posted this previously in this thread, so I don't get it. What's your beef Classy?

After his stem cell therapy, the Dr. told them Lava Man had the ankles of a 3yo . . . . . . . . . you can't blame them for trying him out . . . . . . . but they better be real careful . . . . . . . . because if something should happen to Lava Man (knock wood it never happens), their decision will just be putting another nail in the coffin of the horse racing industry.

The actual problem with horse racing is that, regardless of Lava Man running and winning, or running and getting injured; Neither story will be a blip on the radar outside of the industry. Unless he has won a triple crown race, the general sports public doesn't have a clue who he is.

One thing people have to understand is that no matter how much you disagree with something there is very little that you can do. You don't own the horse and the owners have the right to do what they want. I doubt if he wasn't feeling better that they would risk anything. Stem cell procedures can do wonders in these horses. The backlash and having to disappear like Jimmy Hoffa just isn't real appealing if something were to happen.

Have been a fan of Lava Man since Lonnie Arterburn had him on the GGF grass as a youngster (25000 clm ?)

Great to hear that he is doing so well that he might make it back to the races.

This thread reminds me of when Greg Gilchrist/
Harry Aleo decided to bring back 1985 Horse of the Year Minutes Away after he bowed.

Many naysayers back then too.....just no internet.
You can take the man away from the racetrack, but you can not take the racetrack out of the man.
