Inspiring Story of Injured Trainer

Postby MaryS » Mon Sep 21, 2009 8:43 am

From Michelle Blanco at Calder:
Dear Friends in Racing,

Below are links to a recent two-part story on assistant trainer Robin Cleary, a longtime horsewoman based at Calder Race Course in Miami Gardens, Fla. with her husband, trainer Brian Cleary.

Many of you may recall that Robin was seriously injured in a training accident at Calder in 1996, leaving her a quadriplegic. And you may have heard about her heroic efforts over the years to raise over a million dollars for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

Robin is also now doing her part to help owners and trainers place their Thoroughbreds at proper post-racing career facilities, most notably the Pure Thoughts Horse & Foal Rescue and Thoroughbred Rehabilitation & Placement Farm in Loxahatchee, Fla.

I hope you take the time to read her inspiring story, written by Robin Bush for the web site Examiner.com.

Part II: http://www.examiner.com/x-12303-Horse-R ... ry-Part-II

Perhaps her story will give you inspiration as well.

Thanks,

Michele Blanco
