Neil Drysdale DQ'd Out of Another G1 Win @ Woodbine

Postby Pathagan » Sun Sep 20, 2009 1:39 pm

Neil's Marsh Side crossed the wire first in the G1 Northern Dancer at Woodbine this afternoon - only to be DQ'd to 4th for alleged interference in deep stretch.

It was the 2nd time that Neil has been DQ' out of G1 win at Woodbine (Hawskley Hill was DQ's from his win in the Mile a few years back).

I did have $$$ on Marsh Side, so obviously I believe the call sucked.

I was P.O'd myself Pat because I had him too. However, I thought he would come down when originally watching the race. The stewards focus in on THE RIGHT HANDED WHIPPING when a horse goes a couple of paths inside. Admittedly, no contact was made and I've seen this be a "no-change" at tons of racetracks about every other time. It's times like this I don't mind my jockey trying to intimidate at least one of the two horses coming on the inside, but the Cast. man kept cracking the right stick. The smarter rides ease up when they've already coming slightly over. Of course my anger went from bad to worse when I keyed Fernely ONLY on top of Ventura 'cause of her coming in second so many times, with many of her placings completely due to her lack of focus near the wire. I'd love to see her challenge the boys again, but I hear she'll prob. go back to the sprint(I'm guessing maybe to avoid the monster who is GOLDIKOVA).

Seemed like the correct call was made.

I think it cost me a few bucks, but there was no doubt the favorite (i think the six was favored) was cost a better placing.

I think it took so long because the stewards might have been thinking about taking down the three as well?

The 5 came in about 4 paths......and the 3 had no choice but to saw off the six on the rail.
You can take the man away from the racetrack, but you can not take the racetrack out of the man.
