Kent D, cmon man.

Does Kent D's recent problems question his handling of Big Brown in the Belmont ? Now I look at the race differently. Or is it and I should shut my pie hole?

Agree. Kent Desormeaux has been(and still can be) a tough guy when he is riding well. The way he talks and holds himself has always reminded me of Greg Haugen, another tough guy. (Actually, to be accurate, Kent is tough but Haugen is a bad MF.)

As for the Belmont and Big Brown: Kent is an experienced jockey and knows horses. But he is competitive too, so if he thought he had a chance with the horse he would have dug in. He pulled up and I trust his judgement.

Don't forget the countless times he was fined in Southern California for not riding out his horse to the wire.

i dont think the jock will have much to do with ill have another winning or losing the belmont. i would think that if kent desormeaux was riding the horse he would have a better chance than with guteirez, the young jock does know him and that helps but he is a few hundred stakes wins short of desormeaux. its funny that he was taken off dullahan that can only hurt that horses chance of winning. again 99% of the time the best horse wins no matter the jock.

Ok here is another way to look at it. A 6 furlong race is what 3000 feet. If the jockey effects on a race is even .1%, My math says the jockey difference on such a race would be about 3 feet. How many of us have lost a wager by a head a foot or a neck.

Ckid, jockeys do make a difference--those are cold numbers.

using that logic redam would absolutely have to take guiterez off ill have another, no one can make an arguement that he is the best jockey. bill hartack was truely an anchor, never regarded by anyone to ever be a top jockey yet he won 5 derbies tied for the most ever.
