One Way to Stay Unbeaten for Stacelita

Postby Bob B » Sun Sep 13, 2009 10:23 am

is to have your country's stewards disqualify the foreigner...

Dar Re Mi, who was denied her third group 1 on the trot, is laying 4th on the rail through most of the race in the light pink with grey sash silks. In the straight, her rider Jimmy Fortune follows Stacelita (in the orange) through the gap opened by Stacelita's rabbit. Dar Re Mi was ruled by the homies to have interfered with the 5th place finisher on the rail in the black silks with red cap. Without seeing the head on, it looks like a brutal call. I didn't see the fifth place jock take up at all. I have to think Stacelita's unblemished record carries an asterisk in the minds of many and she was eased in betting for the Arc from 9-2 to 8-1 with knowledge of her having to be supplemented for 100,000 euros to take part. Dar Re Mi was made a 10-1 shot for the Arc and Sea The Stars has been cut to as low as even money for the Longchamp showpiece.

Gosden was at Keeneland so I haven't seen his comments, but Lady Webber was not a happy owner and rightfully so in my opinion.

The 8 got momentarily crowded on the rail and they used that as the cause for dq. Since Dar Re Mi's rider immediately corrected and the 8's rider didn't even appear to take up, it was a bad call.
