It's a little tardy, but there has been mucho work to get done of late.
DOC, from the Chat, throws an annual get-together for the Chatters on Pacific Classic Day and this was year 9 (?) I believe. Our 3rd. Always a pleasure to meet up with these folks as we again get the chance to place faces to the "fonts".
The Stretch Run Grill - as per usual - is our spot, and we again had a blast. We really enjoyed spending most of our time with Speedemon and her friend Kaz, as they were at the table next to us.
The weather was the best in many years. No humidity, mid-70's....perfect.
Afterward, the dinner was at Roy's in La Jolla. Food was great, drinks were great, the private room was great, service was very slow. I don't know what their problem was, but my goodness it took forever for just about everything. Only saving grace was the company and conversation. DegenerationX, AC and Triple Threat sat next to us and we spoke of racing and life and other nonsense.
PC Day wagering for us was one of those "what coulda been" moments. Had Sartorial gotten the job done in R8 (lost by a head), we woulda had the Late P4. We had Richards Kid, She's Very Rare and Sterkel in the final 3 legs, on a $72 ticket. To top it off, we didn't play the late P3. What can ya do when the difference between plus-$20k and minus-$72 is about 18 inches? Nothing. We've all been there, in one way or another.
We did hit two P3s and the Late P4 at Togie, and we cashed a few smaller plays at DMR earlier on the card, so all in all we did OK. But man oh man, what coulda been.
Any how, we again thank DOC and all the chatters for including us in the annual soiree. We circle PC Day on the calendar every year, knowing it will be impossible to have a lousy time.
