Keeneland Opening Day!!!!!!!!

Postby Ogygian » Thu Apr 05, 2012 8:32 pm

OK, having been to the track a few times now....I can comment that tomorrow's Opening Day at Keeneland should be celebrated with gusto.

It's a genius layout.....with the greatest, classiest people......and it's freaking Kentucky........

Nothing was really jumping off the page at me after my first perusal through the Form tonight....but I will redouble my efforts in the AM.

Hunch play: Fire the Boss in the 1st, a baby race going 4 1/2. Book it.

Happy Opening Day, everybody....save for Del Mar, and SA's Opening Day on 12/26....tomorrow is as good as it gets, IMHO.

Best of luck, and as I have heard somewhere in the TVG universe...."May all of your photo finishes, be winning ones"

Just got back from morning workouts at Keeneland and will be leaving soon for lunch and then back to my favorite place in the world. Saw Shug this morning at workouts so if my random run-in with connections theory holds true, get down on Voodoo Storm in the 5th and Rescue Squad in the 8th. That 8th race looks a lot more like a stakes race than an allowance.

It's a little chilly this morning, but sunny and 60 for the races this afternoon. Enjoy the opening day at Keeneland, I'm sure that I will.

Rescue Squad ran out, but...

5th race - Keeneland - April 06, 2012

Pgm Horse Win Place Show
7 Voodoo Storm 23.20 10.00 5.20
1 Positive Side 15.20 7.00
3 Grip Hands 2.80

You might have heard my daughter screaming over Becker on TVG. She also had the winner of the Transylvania giving her wins on both grass races. I had a $14.00 winner in the 6th but nothing else so she had a positive ROI and I didn't but it was a beautiful day in Lexington with two good meals before and after. Unfortunately she didn't win one of the 10 $1,000 scholarships given away, which is what I was really hoping for.

I'll say it again, if ever given the chance, Keeneland is a must see for any horse racing fan.

Bob,

Did you happen to pay attention to the co-feature?

And what do you think of that comebacking horse? Me thinks he's every bit as good as Giacomo, maybe even better.

Couldn't back him at 2-1 off a long layoff against that bunch, but he was very impressive today. If he stays healthy, it could be a very good year for him. I give credit to the excellent care he receives from the vet ;). (and I don't mean vet in the negative connotation normally associated with the industry)
