He'll make the Derby if the connections want to make it. $600k in graded earnings puts him in easily.

Horse will be in the derby but I doubt it will be for the same connections. Someone will buy him for a ridiculous amount of money just to have their silks in the program.

The horse is NOT NOMINATED for the Triple Crown. 200K is the late nomination fee and even then, since any late nominations are excluded from the Top 24 earners (that are already nominated), he'd have to hope for mass defections to get into the starting gate in Louisville.

Thanks, I didn't know that about late nominations being excluded from the earnings list.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.

Good point but I think they can wait until entry time before they pay the $200,000 fee. At that point they should know whether or not there are 20 horses ready to enter although there have been late surprises recently.

Plus this year there will be also eligibles which certainly can complicate matters for a horse that wasn't originally nominated.

Kentucky Derby for this near the front longshot? Fuhgeddaboutit. Run him in the Derby Trial at a mile, where his speed might carry him through the laboring CD stretch, to get your Louisville experience. Then put him in the Preakness.

Eddie Martin Jr. on a $220 Winner in the Biggest Race in the Big Easy, Man Talk about a "Blast From the Past". Seriously I couldnt believe my eyes when i checked the results. If you're an old-timer like me, then surely you can remember when Eddie use to bring in nice paying winners on a regular basis @ Fairgrounds.

Congrats to ya Eddie Martin, even though I didnt have you this time, I can truly say that its nice to see you get your "Day in the Sun" at what use to be your home-track.
