Good review and synopsis of week 3.........
http://blogs.houstonpress.com/artattack ... _recap.php

"I get the feeling HBO is increasingly aware of the grumblings about the glacial pace of their new Sunday night series. Is that because of my vast insider knowledge of pay-TV networks? No, it's because HBO aired that "This season on Luck" promo again. After the *third* episode. The message of the teaser -- best described as "Blood! Boats! Gambon!" -- is clearly, "Please stick around! Stuff's going to happen...eventually!"

That's a glib way of shrugging off the plot developments that have already happened, but after three episodes of table setting and ratings for the second week down by half from the season premiere,
Luck needs to get the ball rolling for its final six episodes if it wants anybody besides horse fetishists and annoyed TV bloggers watching the season finale."

I'm all for giving this show a chance, but man its been very disappointing. Could they have picked a more annoying person to play the jockey agent. Jeesh.

Agree Mitch I don't get it. Milch is known for not using actors again that he has used in lead roles in other shows.I can think of 10 actors from NYPD Blue or Deadwood who would be
a better fit imho.Doesn't make sense. I've only seen the premier episode which I enjoyed but am a bit dismayed that the word on the street that its at a snails pace in story development.

Also, why is Woody or Goose so stoked when they agreed to give him 5% of the purse winnings of an 8k claimer?

And why pay $25000+ privately when the cowboy would probably run the horse for $10K or $12.5 down the road? Couldn't understand that.
The 4 A's lost the shake for $8K to Mulligan and now are willing to pay $25000? I thought Escalante barking out the potential charges
was pretty spot on. $85 a day for training, once a month fees for the dentist, carrots, etc. $200 for a crosstown van ride, $25 for
the pony, etc. They pay the vet directly and he bills them once a month and there will be trouble if they fall behind.

This horse is going to end up being the next Lava Man.

I have to say I have enjoyed the show mostly because I am a racing fan. However there are four characters in the show who are very hard to listen to. The two trainers, the agent and Dustin. I don't know if its because I am getting up there in age or what but these four main characters are hard to understand. I mean I loved the Soprano's and understood what they were saying but these four are making me rewind and listen again.

My suggestion is use your closed caption option. It works wonders for us older folks when needed. Quite a few shows have muddled audio.

The Four As aren't exactly portrayed as geniuses

I know this show has its detractors, but the race in which Nolte's maiden won in the latest episode was one of the most powerful scenes I have ever watched.
