thats why some trainers are the best, because horses move up several lengths after they take over training, i could make a list of trainers that have similar outcomes. heady ride by talamo and a bummy group of maidens. plus did you see who was training and riding the horse in its previous race? take your loss like a man. noone else was even close to that hoss.

A young inexperienced horse puts it together under the watchful eye of a good trainer. Hardly a scenario that doesn't play out hundreds of times a year. What surprises me is a 6yo who has run 60 races who suddenly runs a lifetime top fig.

I promised myself I wouldn't get involved in discussions like this because they always throw out the the most ridiculous reasons why horses improve...they always fail to mention that it is the same trainers who all of a sudden see the light of day....in old racing it was the b l i n kers ,the shoes, the bridle, the jockey, the track ,the surface but it always was the same trainers....I guess all these other trainers must be horse ****...because they cannot come up with this simple fix...ya right....last year it was barber and barber owners and harris farms this year not so much ...it a new group of owners...many yaers ago ..someone told me about the turn system I laughed ....at the theory ...believe me no more ......I take it very seriously just ask donald warren ...

As many have already stated in this thread, There was no hanky panky by Sadler with this horse, it was just the case of an improving young horse who caught a bum field to walk over.

In fact if most players could try to hone their handicapping skills to find such "Diamonds in the Rough" you'd be laughing on the way to the Bank, instead of complaining about some trainer who you think is cheating.

Two of the best Angles in all of t-bred racing is the Positive Jokey Change & the New Trainer/Barn Change, Thats where you play the horse based solely on the fact that the Horse has a New Jockey or a New Trainer.

You say you never heard of this Angle? Well look back at this years running of the '09-Ky-Derby, where Top Churchill Downs & past Ky-Derby winning jockey Calvin Borel gets on a no-name horse named MineThatBird for the 1st time. Bingo MineThatBird Wins @ $50-1 & you know a day or so after the race you heard rumblings that somehow MineThatBird wasnt for real & had to be juiced, Non-Sense, it was just the horse got a good jockey & a wet track that he loved.

Good Luck to All

If the "turn system" existed you should be wealthy beyond comprehension.

Sadler came to Dmr loaded for bear with a bunch of ready to run 2 year olds as well as older horses. He, Mullins, O'Neil, West do more with their day training money than the rest of the trainer colony. They are always winning around 20-25% at every circuit. I factor this improvement on their recent acquisitions when I am handicapping. Forgot to mention Mike Mitchell in that group although he had a rather slow meeting for his standards.

Railman made a good post here.
If all your handicappers would concentrate on your own mistakes and not attribute your bad luck to crookedness, you would improve your game.
John Sadler is a superior trainer, he has superior help in his barn, that's why he is a 20%+ trainer.
There was nothing "shocking" about this horses win at all.
I gave it a very long long for several reasons, finally decided to bet against the horse....reason.....it was shipping down from Santa Anita......not being at Del Mar in person that day, I didn't want to take a chance it may not ship all that well.
I suppose I should have taken a chance on hindsight, but I stick my my final decisions win or lose.
Any lesson to be learned, if you like the chances of a horse trained by a leading horseman, probably shouldn't nit pick yourself out of a winner.
