casino's don't want to gamble

the future odds they give now days is a joke, regardless of the sport and if you go in there and bet $20.00 on a derby future they will automatically lower the odds to half what they were. i remember when in october before the derby you could get 10,000 to 1 on maidens now they wont give more than 300to1 and if you go bet $100.00 on a 300to1 shot, they will have him at 40to1 within 5 minutes.

SO... I went to the Wynn today to the Book. It really is a nice joint, just in the middle of Adult Disneyland, which makes Boston traffic look easy.

I get their list of Derby Future bets, He's Had Enough is on there, he was listed at 150-1, revised for today's sheet to 125-1, when I bet him it was at 100-1. 'zup wit dat?
As CK points out, that probably means someone bet $20 (because of the name, no doubt. Think about it...last year was "I'll Have Another, this year He's Had Enough).

I point out to an assistant bookie that Dipsy Drew isn't on there, he takes the name and says it soon will be. When the head Bookie arrived, I spoke to him, told him he's in the Gr I 2YO race at Kee tomorrow. He says Ok, turns back and gives me 'the look' and asks "he's not a first-time starter, is he?", I tell him nope, has run 3 times, has a 1st and a 2nd.
Jeez, it's like I'm responsible for setting the odds for this baby horse for the entire World! Anyway, they put him on (#7498) at 175-1 so I empty two (2) checking accounts and bet for CK and I. There wasn't much $$$ to bet after Optimizer, but after Opt's 2 wins it's building back up.

I stayed and played a few, thinking if only my horses were as bouncy and frisky as the waitresses....
