As much as I really enjoy going to Del Mar, I can't bring myself to go opening day this year. I don't want to fight the "look at me" crowd--look at me get so hammered that I can't walk, and have to be dragged by 2 of my friends to the restroom, car, wherever. It's the only day I have ever consistantly noticed this behavior at Del Mar, so I will give up opening day this year (for the first time in about 15 years), and make my own "opening day" on Thursday or Friday the 19th or 20th.

Ummmmm - no jockeys were caught in the sobriety checkpoint.

If you're referring to Smith, he was arrested HOURS after the last race concluded.
