Certain websites are not.

no the server is not at the race track

Nothing to do with it. Our ISP has power backup for their servers. (Actually the track has backup power, too, although not enough to run everything.) Power was out from San Clemente into Arizona.

[I'm going on a rant here.]

It's about the failure of our lousy electrical grid. I remember this being an issue years ago, but it's hardly been mentioned since.

The outage occurred after an electrical worker removed a piece of monitoring equipment at a power substation in southwest Arizona, officials at Phoenix-based Arizona Public Service Co. said. It was unclear why that mishap, which normally would have been isolated locally, sparked such a widespread outage. The company said that would be the focus of a probe.

The outage knocked out power in a region of almost 6 million people in the Southwest, bringing San Diego to a near-standstill and leaving people in the surrounding desert to swelter in late-summer heat.

Power slowly returned as the outage wore on. By 8 p.m., officials were reporting that power had been restored to parts of Oceanside, Eastlake and the Chula Vista community of Bonita. At about 10:30, SDG&E tweeted that residents in Encinitas, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Escondido, Rancho San Diego had their power back, while in South Bay, electriciy had been restored in National City. By 2:30 in the morning, half of SDG&E's impacted customers had power again.

My power came back on at 1:35 a.m.
I hate it when I don't forward chain letter and I die the next day!

Last time I checked, it was Friday.

Power restored to about 99% of people since 3 am.

I heard today that sewage treatment stations were shut down because of the outage, and raw sewage was sent into the ocean, causing some of the beaches to shut down in the San Diego area. Is this true?

The only sewage being spewed anywhere lately eminates from Upland and, for some bizarre reason, ends up in a tony North County seaside resort village. The flow is direct and virtually un-impeded.

Efforts to shut off this strange flow have been futile at best.

In fact, the sewage seems to be in control of it's own volume, speed and destination. Although the contents of the sewage has been well-known for a few years, it has been allowed to flow fairly freely, despite the protests of locals and out-of-towners alike.

A recent poll showed that over 87% of the denizens of the village, its passionate followers and supporters wish to have the flow stopped. Authorities have yet to act upon that wish.
