Coaster/DD Bus Question

Postby Ray702 » Mon Aug 22, 2011 8:35 pm

Hey everyone, I have a question about the Coaster and Double Decker Bus setup for the races. Earlier this season, I was staying in Carlsbad and used this method to get to the track on a Wednesday, and was very happy with it. I got to the races early and it was a breeze. I will be back in Carlsbad this weekend, and would like to do this again. However, the southbound coasters arrive at Solana at either 11:31 or 2:08. We will have two young (3 and 5) children with us, and that's going to be a looong time to entertain them until the first post. And the next train leaves you missing the first two races by the time you get in. I guess I have two questions...

1) Does the coaster have any special route on Saturdays for the Del Mar season that are not listed on their normal schedule? I know they run specials for Padres games, and I think I saw some sort of flier or something in the window at the train station regarding Del Mar.

2) If not, has anyone ever simply parked at the Solana Station and ridden the Double Decker bus to the track from there? Do they even run the busses during that time since there is such a gap between the two coaster arrivals?

Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

The Double decker Bus`s run every 15 to 20 minutes during the day and are constantly running back and forth to pick up passengers from after 9 am to after 6 pm and you can wait for that right outside the main doors of the amtrak station...as far as the special racetrack metrolink train that stops in oceanside you may want to check into that as they make a stop in oceanside then continue on to solana beach and you can find that by typeing on racetrack special on metrolink website...
